At Laurel Elementary Magnet School, character development is an important part of helping our students grow as learners and as people. Each month, Laurel Leopards focus on a different Character Trait, giving students opportunities to learn what the trait means and, most importantly, what it looks like in action. Through classroom discussions, schoolwide activities, examples, and recognition, students practice putting each character trait into their everyday interactions. Traits such as respect, responsibility, perseverance, kindness, gratitude, and goal setting help our students build positive relationships, make thoughtful choices, overcome challenges, and contribute to a caring school community. By focusing on one trait each month, we create a common language that encourages every Laurel Leopard to strive for success, persevere, own their actions, and treat all with kindness.
