Seven BOUSD Schools Recognized by California PBIS Coalition

Seven schools from the Brea Olinda Unified School District (BOUSD) have been recognized for the 2025-2026 school year for their outstanding efforts in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), with Falcon Academy and Brea Junior High earning the highest level recognition- Platinum.  The California PBIS Coalition recently awarded a range of honors to these schools, reflecting their commitment to fostering positive school environments, enhancing student outcomes, and promoting equitable and inclusive practices.

PBIS is a framework designed to improve the behavioral and academic outcomes of students by providing consistent, positive reinforcement and support. Schools are recognized at different levels—Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze—based on the depth and fidelity of their PBIS implementation, as well as their success in using data to improve student behavior and engagement.

  • Falcon Academy of Science and Technology

  • Brea Junior High

These schools have demonstrated exemplary PBIS practices, going above and beyond in creating a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students. Their dedication to embedding PBIS strategies at every level of their operations highlights their commitment to continuous improvement and student success.

Silver Awards

Five schools earned the Silver Award for their success in implementing effective PBIS strategies that have improved the overall school climate:

  • Arovista Elementary School

  • Laurel Elementary Magnet School

  • Olinda Elementary School

  • Brea Canyon High School

  • Brea Olinda High School

The Silver Award recognizes schools that have made significant progress in their PBIS efforts and are well on their way to achieving even higher levels of student support and engagement.

BOUSD is proud of these schools for their commitment to providing welcoming and supportive environments for their students. All schools earning PBIS recognitions will be celebrated at the annual California PBIS Conference, October 7–9, 2026, in Sacramento.
